I Left My Heart In Mexico
When you’re sitting in Denver in the snow with Christmas vacation far behind you, it really makes you question your priorities. Like why am I here when I should be on a beach living my best life.
Although it has been a whole 8 months (!) since my fiesta bachelorette party, I am feeling very nostalgic as I sit cocooned on my couch trying to get the feeling back in my toes. As I reminisce I think of all the reasons it was the best trip ever;
1. The weather was perfect
2. I was with my best friends
3. It was all-inclusive. Not having to worry about anything makes vacay that much better. No separate checks, figuring out how to split bills evenly or worrying about one girl getting down on a bottle of wine and everyone else having to pay for it (not that drinking a bottle of wine alone isn't respectable)
4. It was the perfect amount of time especially for the price. Sarah went through a travel agent and found us an amazing deal. We had round trip flights from Denver to Cancun and stayed at the all-inclusive resort for 5 days. All this at a comparable rate to a crazy weekend in Vegas where you lose half your money and half your dignity
Naturally I had to put together a Mexico inspired gift bag for the trip. The beach bag (from Target, of course) contained;
“Beach, Please” Tank (http://bridalpartyshirtsusa.com/)- they were super great with helping me create a custom order
Flower Headband (Amazon https://www.amazon.com/eBoot-Multicolor-Headband-Adjustable-Elastic/dp/B01M704IQM/ref=sr_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1484869641&sr=8-8&keywords=flower+headband)- also had to get these gems so everyone could have a different color and we could wear floral kimonos and be basic AF on Instagram
Flamingo Drink Holder- this is by far the best thing I have ever purchased. Not only was everyone super jealous of us, they actually did a great job of letting you get super drunk in the pool while putting in the minimum amount of work. No water in your drink or hand cramps. They are obviously straight from heaven with Prime shipping (https://www.amazon.com/Flamingo-Inflatable-Parties-Holding-Decoration/dp/B01FEBZ1YE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484869407&sr=8-1&keywords=flamingo+pool+float+drink+holder) although now I’m pretty annoyed because there are like palm trees, swans, donuts and all kinds of other shit I also would have wanted
Bride Tribe Tattoo- a must for every party. Obviously. And this girl knows what she’s doing (https://www.etsy.com/shop/KristenMcGillivray?ref=l2-shop-info-name)
For Sarah, who gets all the credit for making the trip happen, I made a slightly more elaborate bag filled with the above plus;
Flamingo Towel (Old Navy) & Watermelon Cup (Starbucks)
The bag was real fun/easy to make. I bought the plain black bag (comes in different colors) and the leather tassel keychain from Target (http://www.target.com/p/women-s-solid-mesh-tote-handbag-peach-mossimo-supply-co/-/A-50054349?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Accessories+Shopping_Brand&adgroup=SC_Accessories&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9028768&gclid=CNfytdu1z9ECFQEGaQodYdkLzg&gclsrc=aw.d) and then added the embellishments. I got the gold “S” and the beach themed brads from Hobby Lobby
I used scissors to poke a hole in the plastic pocket part of the bag and then pushed the brads through and secured them. The “S” was a sticker so I added some glue and clipped on the decorative tassel and voila!
In conclusion; Best Trip Ever.
